At the visit, ask for a written quote. It should list the work, the parts and the price. If you want to compare approaches, such as a repair versus a replacement, ask for both.
Is there any pressure?
No. Requesting an estimate is not a commitment. You can get more than one quote, take your time, and turn down any offer.
